The Surprising Story of Christ’s Chapel
Tuesday 10 May 7.30pm
Christ’s Chapel was built only 11 years after the Gunpowder Plot and during the first century of its 400 years it was a place of religious fanaticism and change. This and later changes in religious observance can be seen in aspects of the interior of the building which will be explained by historian Brian Green. Music played a vital part in the history of Christ’s Chapel; Handel. Arne, Vaughan Williams and Holst all had walk-on roles. Marilyn Harper, Chapel Organist will play some of their music on the same organ in use since 1760.
Christ’s Chapel, Dulwich Village. Tickets (include refreshment): adults £8, concession and under 18s £6
