The Dulwich Players will perform She Stoops to Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith, from 16-18 July at the Edward Alleyn Theatre, Dulwich College.

The plot is centred on the Hardcastle family, and in particular Kate Hardcastle, a young  lady who poses as a barmaid to win the love of young Marlow, an educated fellow who is too bashful to court ladies of his own class. His behaviour towards women of a lower  class is altogether different. At the same time, Kate’s friend Constance Neville is busy with her own plans to pursue Marlow’s friend, Hastings. There is plenty of mischief,  deceptions and sharp dialogue to enjoy on the way. Much of the mischief is set in motion by the irrepressible comic character of Tony Lumpkin, continually at odds with his equally   determined mother, Dorothy Hardcastle.

‘She Stoops…’ is probably one of the most performed, read and studied of all English  comedies. We hope our efforts to bring it to life on the stage will win your approval.

Tickets cost £10 (£12 on the door) and are available by phone 07936 531356, email boxoffice@dulwichplayers.org or in person from Art Stationers, Dulwich Village, SE21, or on the door (subject to availability)
