The 2015 Herne Hill Music Festival aims to be bigger and better this year and to bring a wide range of good music to audiences in Herne Hill and across South London from 9-18 October.
There are several types of music and events this year:
Jazz – Friday 16th will host Jazz star Renato D’Aiello at the Off The Cuff club. He follows a ‘come and play’ session at the same venue hosted by Head’s Up the previous Monday, and Greenhouse Jazz in the Brockwell Park Greenhouses with singer Harriet Eaves.
Classical – The Saturday evenings of 10th and 17th will be given over to classical music. On 10th, brass quartet Meridian Brass will perform in a fundraising concert for charity Practical Action. On Thursday 15th, the Eusebius String Quartet will be performing Haydn, Beethoven, and Debussy.
Folk, guitar music, and poetry – Three evenings of great music at the Prince Regent pub. The Festival will open on Friday 9th with The Singers and their Songs. On Tuesday 13th, Gorgeous Guitars will perform with music in three contrasting styles, and Thursday 15th welcomes Sonnet and Skiffle.
School Ensembles – Talent from our local schools perform on Saturday 10th, with music from Rosendale and Jessop Schools and Southwark Children’s Brass Band. On 17th, the choir of Herne Hill School will perform in their new hall backed by an orchestra.
