St Christopher’s supporters are being urged to sign-up early to this years’ Midnight Walk and take advantage of an early-bird discount online registration fee. The fun and friendly star-lit walk takes place from 11 pm on Saturday 10 October. Starting and finishing at the hospice in Sydenham, the five-mile circular route encompasses all five boroughs where St Christopher’s provides expert end of life care for the community.

Midnight Walk will take place in Hospice Care Week (5 – 11 October) as part of an annual week of activity to raise the profile of hospice care across the UK. As well as a fabulously unusual Saturday night out, by securing sponsorship for the Midnight Walk, walkers will raise money to support St Christopher’s Candle Project which supports bereaved children, young people and families from across South East London.

Walkers who sign up online before Friday 11 September can take advantage of an online early-bird fee of just £15 (normal registration fees are £20). There is also a special reduced rate of £10 for those aged 11-17 (although those aged under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult, and children under 11 may not take part). The registration fee includes a Midnight Walk t-shirt, a medal on completion of the walk and refreshments.

This year walkers are encouraged to wear their pyjamas or onesies to add to the atmosphere of the evening. Many people take part to remember a loved one, others walk for fun, but everyone who takes part in Midnight Walk is walking for St Christopher’s.

Event organiser Georgie Grant explains; “Every mile you walk makes a difference, with our Candle Project helping nearly 400 bereaved children and young people, every year, to come to terms with their loss and begin to live their lives again after losing someone important”.

Supporters are invited to pledge their support by signing up to Midnight Walk and taking a pyjama ‘selfie’ to encourage others to sign-up too by posting to their own Facebook page and remembering to tag St Christopher’s Official Fundraising Page or tweet @stchfundraising using the #StCMidnight

St Christopher’s is also looking for volunteers and marshals to join the team on the night and help make it a success. For further information please contact Georgie on 020 8768 4575 or email midnightwalk@stchristophers.org.uk
