As the sleepy grey days of winter recede, the Concordia Chamber Choir stretches its musical muscles on Saturday 18th March with a concert of ground-breaking English choral works from the 20th century.  In an eclectic programme, three remarkable composers are featured: Herbert Howells, Benjamin Britten and Arnold Bax.

Some pieces will be familiar like Britten’s ‘Rejoice In The Lamb’, a joyous celebration of how the different creatures of this world worship the Lord. Others are arguably less-known, such as Howells’ Take Him Earth For Cherishing’ composed in commemoration of President Kennedy and, perhaps most extraordinary of all, Howells’ Requiem, a searingly moving, intensely personal piece written in the 1930s but not performed till half a century later.

So shake off those post-Christmas cobwebs, come out of hibernation and join us for another memorable evening with one of south London’s most prestigious and talented choirs. We look forward to seeing you.

The performance is at 7.30pm on Saturday 18th March at All Saints’ Church, Lovelace Rd, SE21 8JY.

Tickets for CCC’s 2017 Spring Concert cost £12 at the door, or £11 in advance from www.concordiachamberchoir.co.uk. Concessions (students and those on means tested benefits) half price.
