My name is Rob Cassie, I’m a qualified electrician who works mainly in the domestic sector. I’m registered with a governing body that makes sure that I work to current standards as set out by the wiring regulations. My aim is to make sure that homeowners are electrically safe in their own home.

How long have you lived in the area?

I’ve lived in the SE area for just over twenty years.

What brought you here?

My now wife, girlfriend at the time, lived in the area so I moved to the area so we could see more of each other.

What’s the one thing you couldn’t do without?

My iPad, it keeps me connected with my customers and has my daily schedule at hand.

The most famous person you’ve seen or met?

Many years ago, at a military event, I met Prince Charles. I remember thinking how much shorter he was in real life, for some reason I always thought he was very tall.

Do you belong to any groups?

I belong to a group called “My Electricians Toolbox”, which is for likeminded electricians who meet up and discuss marketing for their electrical businesses and how to grow it even further and we also have annual events where we all meet up. Having been a member since the group was founded I am now part of the admin team that helps out at events and with other activities for the members.

Describe your perfect weekend?

Relaxing at home, I like to paint using oil paints. My father was a great artist and used to exhibit his work in London. Although I’ve always liked drawing using pencils and pastels, I’ve only been painting using oils for just over three years. It was a great feeling recently, having sold my first painting.

Where are you likely to be found on Saturday?

On the sofa enjoying a quiet night in.

Coffee or tea? Where?

Coffee first thing on a weekend, tea during the rest of the week. Being a tradesman I am always working in other people’s homes and I get offered a variety of different versions of tea, from very milky to very strong to even sometimes the very exotic.

The best meal I’ve ever had…

This is any easy one to remember because it was on my honeymoon in Cyprus, we went to a restaurant called Mama’s and had a Meze, it was never ending, plate after plate of food came out, I’m not sure if it was because they realized we were on honeymoon, but I do remember asking the waiter and he said that there were 28 different items of food that were brought to the table and we were in the restaurant for around three and a half hours. We were rather bloated to say the least.

The book I’m reading at the moment…

Unshakeable by Tony Robbins.

My perfect holiday…

Cyprus without a doubt. I have been back many times since our honeymoon, I fell in love with the place from the moment I saw it.

My secret ambition…

I have many, but two of them would be, first to have a home in Scotland as that’s where my in-laws live and it is such a peaceful village, it’s nice to get away there for some rest and recuperation. Secondly would be to have a holiday home in Cyprus, knowing you could just get on a plane and be in such a beautiful place with great whether, great food and have a nice relaxing break whenever you felt like it.
