On Sunday 21 June, 250 runners, young and old, gathered in Peckham Rye to ‘Run the Rye’ to raise money for the Parents & Friends of Heber School. Adults ran 5km, followed by the ever-popular 1-mile children’s race. The legendary ‘Mr Monkey’ whipped the youngsters up into a frenzy before the start and the children showed tremendous spirit supporting each other round the course (the promise of free ice creams from Café G might have provided an incentive too!).

The P&F would like to thank all the local businesses who supported the event, particularly our main sponsor DaisyLets, along with SE Magazines, ESPH, Dulwich Chiropractic Clinice, Bodyshot Personal Trainers and Rye Books.

Special thanks to Leanne and the team from Bodyshot for leading the adults’ warm-up and lending us their expertise. All the money raised will go towards P&F-funded projects such as paying for a school gardener and providing some much-needed renovations to the school hall.
