The third East Dulwich Literary Festival, organised by Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich, starts on Monday 29 June with five special events open to the public.
The festival is a week-long programme of performances, readings and talks including:
- An evening with award-winning author Adèle Geras
- a virtuoso one man show by Gerald Dickens (descendent of Charles)
- professional storytellers Spark London and The Devil’s Violin
- and the acclaimed Bookshop Band.
The theme for this year’s festival is Women’s Voices, with a focus on female authors and protagonists.
“We’re keen to offer something to our local community, but we’re also hosting a whole series of events for our students which link together Art, Drama, History, and Enterprise, and encourage our students’ creativity,” says Principal Jane Fletcher.
“The festival is about raising the profile of English and Literature. It enriches our curriculum and gives every student the chance to experience and be inspired by professional authors, musicians and speakers.”
