Family Festival: Sparklefest
Sunday 15 December

10am-5pm. Sparkle, shine and celebrate the start of the winter holidays with a light-themed family festival in celebration of Rembrandt’s Light. Enjoy a variety of activities, including light drawing workshops with Tine Bech Studio, candlelit storytelling, festive decoration making and much more!

Light Drawings
Linbury Room
10am-5pm
Join artist Tine Bech to learn how you can draw with light! Playing with movement, colour, light and photography, make your own light-filled family portrait inspired by Rembrandt’s paintings.

Sparkling Stories
Gallery 10
11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm
Snuggle up and enjoy wintery tales about sparkle, glitter, stars, moonbeams and more with our magical storyteller Debbie Guneratne.

Dazzling Decorations
Sackler Centre
10am-5pm
Get in to the holiday spirit by making a festive decoration with artist Grace Holliday. Decorate your own bauble with shining ink patterns – the perfect way to bring a little sparkle in to your home this season!

Colour Your Imagination
Gallery 2
10am-5pm
Join illustration students from Camberwell College of Arts to take part in an activity they’ve specially designed for you! Create a unique colourful collage inspired by Rembrandt’s Light.

Shadow Theatres

10am-5pm
Design and light a scene like Rembrandt in this shadow theatre workshop! Decide on the story you want to tell, and create your own mini dramatic scene, with artist Charlotte Cranidge.

Cut Out Cards
10am-5pm Gallery 11
Create a festive cut out card for family or friends with artist Nikki Gardham. Come up with your own cut out design to shine a light through, and cast a pattern over a special festive message.

Bright Baby
Gallery 12
10am-5pm
Have a child under 3 years old with you? Drop in to Gallery 12 to explore our baby sensory play area inspired by Rembrandt’s paintings and use of light.

Mini Masterpieces
19 December
10-11am & 11.30am-12.30pm. £12 per adult and child. Discover all of the different people, places and animals in the Gallery’s paintings in these interactive workshops. Each session begins with a journey through the Gallery, followed by an art-making activity. Suggested age: 6–24 months.

Art Adventurers
Friday 20 December
10-11am. £12 per adult and child. Are you and your little one ready for an adventure? Each month join our Early Years mascot, Jerome the Lion, as he takes you on a journey through the Gallery. Dance, sing and play your way around our paintings, before enjoying a messy artmaking session. Our themes change monthly to keep your little ones engaged. Suggested age: 2-4 yrs.
