Directed by Nanni Moretti with Michael Piccoli and Nanni Moretti.
This tells the story of Cardinal Melville who suddenly finds himself elected as the next Pope. Never the front runner and caught off guard, he panics as he’s presented to the faithful in St Peter’s Square. To prevent a world crisis, the Vatican’s spokesman calls in a psychoanalyst, who is neither religious nor committed, to find out what is wrong with the new Pope and solve the problem. But Cardinal Melville is adamant – he does not want the job!
