We have kick off! The season is back in full swing, with an away draw and a home win under our belts. We may be playing a division lower this year, but there has been no decrease in our support, which has already been incredible. Being back at the ground for a Tuesday night game under the lights, with an actual spot of nice warm weather too, felt brilliant, and it was great to share a 4-1 win with so many fans. We even saw one of the best goals scored at Champion Hill in years – dig out the highlights if you can!
It was all action off the pitch too, with the launch of our new home and away shirts for the 2023/24 season. It is fair to say from the sheer volume sold on day one that they are something of a fan favourite, nearly rivalling the iconic DHFC bucket hats in their desirability. We are preparing our Mega Container shop at the ground as we speak, so don’t worry if you haven’t made it to the ground yet, there is still time to pick up a shirt or anything else from our merchandise collection. We do also have an online shop at dhst.org.uk, so pick up your items to show your support in whichever shape, size or colour you fancy (as long as they are pink or blue).
In September we only have one home match for our men’s team – Concord Rangers on Saturday 23rd. However, before that our women’s team kick off their home campaign against Ebbsfleet United, Enfield Town, and Millwall Lionesses on 3rd, 10th and 17th respectively. If you haven’t come down on a Sunday for a women’s game and joined the ‘Pepper Army’ you really are missing out. The games are brilliant and the atmosphere is wonderful, so give it a go and see what all the fuss is about.
To finish with a sales pitch. Much of the work that goes on around the Club is aided or run via the Supporters’ Trust. The Trust are the voice of the fans, as well as leading on community work and the design of our merchandise (the sale of which goes into helping fund the club). Each season we ask our fans to join the Trust and help us in our work, so please if you are able visit us at the ground at our new Mega Shed (behind the goal, next to the shop), or go online and sign up for just £10 a season.
