I am Graeme McCafferty, Head at Rosemead Preparatory School and Nursery, set in the heart of Dulwich. Rosemead was delighted to recently receive a wonderful inspection report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate.

How long have you lived in the area?

I have been in the area for the past 10 years. Having worked and lived in Scotland, Kenya, Dubai and Shanghai before moving to London.

What brought you here?

I moved to London having met my wife while working in Dubai, she is from Wandsworth so after spending time in Dubai and Shanghai we relocated here.

What has changed most during that time?

I think the introduction of my wonderful twin daughters is the biggest change in my life during that time. Unbelievably they are now 8 years old.

The most famous person you’ve seen or met?

While living in Dubai I was lucky enough to see lots of incredible concerts. The best concert/person that I’ve seen was Prince. He was unbelievable, he stayed on for 5 encores, this was after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Lewis Hamilton came on stage to sing with him. A crazy day.

Where are you likely to be found on Saturday?

On a typical Saturday at the moment, I’d be a chaperone to my daughters.  They are very active and on a Saturday morning they have netball followed by swimming. In the afternoons we have more time to spent as a family. We are loving playing games and have recently mastered Unstable Unicorns which takes a significant part of the weekends.

Coffee or tea? Where?

Coffee – a latte from Gail’s

The best meal I’ve ever had..

La Gavroche. Tasting menu for my bachelor party. I can’t believe it is closing this year!

If money was no object..

I would take my entire family to Lapland for Christmas. We would get pulled along by huskies, play with reindeers, have snowball fights, and help Father Christmas wrap the presents.

Favourite book..

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman. I enjoyed it so much that I named one of children after the main character.

My perfect holiday..

We have so many friends back in Dubai that we love to visit there, we have a lot of amazing memories from our time out there. While living in the Middle East we travelled extensively and enjoyed many holidays in incredible places. I would love to explore more parts of Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. I feel I’ve just scratched the surface of some places.
