I’m Dana Chapman, a nutritional therapist specializing in mental health. I help people feel joyful, energized, and free through all stages of life using food, movement, sleep, lifestyle, supplementation and coaching.
How long have you lived in the area?
I’ve lived in East Dulwich for 8 years now.
What brought you here?
My husband… But I just love that I get to live so close to central London yet have so many green spaces around at my doorstep.
What do you most value about the street you live in?
Ryedale road has a real sense of community, I’m lucky enough to be on the side that backs onto the cemetery which means we have a big open space at the back of our house to enjoy – what luck in London!
What’s the one thing you couldn’t do without?
Riverford – my organic weekly food delivery.
Describe your perfect weekend….
I love exercise, so the perfect weekend would probably start out with a run or yoga class, followed by a brunch out with family and/ or friends, and end with a BBQ (or braai where I’m from). You can probably sense a food theme…
On Sunday’s I attend church and then I like to relax and bake some snacks (mainly for my kids) before the busyness of the week.
What’s your favourite place for a night out?
Anywhere close to home… I’m a lark, so I like to get home early! Yama Momo is a household favorite, you can never go wrong there.
Where are you likely to be found on Saturday?
The North Cross Road market, buying organic eggs and normally a quesadilla for the kids. Running around after kids and keeping them entertained, and home to rest and relax towards the end of the day.
Coffee or tea? Where?
Coffee! I love Gail’s which always do a good coffee, and Oru – which is just a lovely wholesome space to be in.
Where’s your favourite place to walk?
Peckham rye (because it’s around the corner) and Sydenham woods, although if I’m in the central London its anywhere along the Thames.
If money was no object..
I’d buy my parents a wine farm and probably move in! I’d also love to set up a charity that helped to deliver nutritious food to those who need it.
My perfect holiday..
Anywhere near the sea and preferably warm (but not too warm!), I love the sound of waves crashing on the beach and feeling of sand between my toes. I also love running near water, I find it very therapeutic – it fills my soul.
My secret ambition..
To travel the world speaking about how nutritional therapy can help people recover from mental illness and support mental wellbeing.
