The Dulwich Society has unveiled its new solar-powered listening post in Cox’s Walk. It contains four recordings: two about the local history of the area around Cox’s Walk, including Dr Glennie’s Academy on the site of the Grove Tavern, and two about the trees and wildlife that may be seen or heard nearby, including birdsong to listen out for.

President Kenneth Wolfe unveiled the post, which commemorates the Society’s 60th anniversary, before a group of members who then listened to the recordings which had been made by members Brian Green and Sharon O’Connor, and by Sam Taylor of the London Wildlife Trust.

The Dulwich Society’s aims and objectives are to foster and safeguard the amenities of Dulwich, both in the interests of its residents and the wider local community of which it is a part, and to increase awareness of the varied character that makes the area so special.
