8-Year-old boy from Dulwich exhibited and prize winner at Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Show

Robin, an 8-year-old Dulwich child who attends The Art Club East Dulwich, has had his artwork, ‘A Thinking Chair,’ selected from over 23,000 entries to be exhibited at The Royal Academy Young Artists Summer Show.

Only 270 works were selected to be hung on the prestigious walls of the gallery, and Robin’s work was then also chosen to be awarded ‘The Most Inspiring Artwork Prize’ by Cathie Pilkington RA, Keeper of the Royal Academy.

Robin’s artwork is a drawing of a seated figure using charcoal with red and white chalk on brown paper. Robin created a beautifully observed, characterful and expressive drawing, and The Art Club are so pleased for him.

The Art Club East Dulwich founder, Sally Cutler, also enters the adult version annually.

Sally explains, “We all share in the experience and journey of preparing and entering art for exhibition. We discuss and share our outcomes together and all children gain a certificate of achievement for their creative work and endeavour.

The children enjoy taking part and are proud of their work whatever the outcome which is a very important factor”.
