Positive Approaches

Sunday 5 September 2021, 10am to 4pm

Bell House, 27 College Road, Dulwich, SE21 7BG

The Bell House Dyslexia Fair is bouncing back! After a year of Covid isolation we are making this year completely interactive with multiple workshops for both children and adults, making good use of both our gardens and building.  Focusing on positive approaches to dyslexia, our third Bell House Dyslexia Fair will take place on Sunday 5 September 2021 and is completely free to attend.

The fair brings together families, teachers and the wider dyslexia community to learn more about dyslexia, talk to experts, discover useful resources and share experiences and learnings.

Our busy programme of talks features panel discussions from primary and secondary professionals and students discussing their experiences, Dr Susie Nyman on multi-sensory teaching strategies and Elizabeth Takyi, A2i on creating your dyslexic future.

Local experienced primary school dyslexia specialist teacher Ruth Pierce and secondary school and FE dyslexia expert, Tina Hunter, will be running one to one advisory clinics. Ameerah Khan, Psychologist and Neurodiversity Coach, will be running group workshops on dyslexia awareness and the importance of emotional literacy.

Workshops for children and adults include Pilates sessions designed especially for children with dyslexia called ‘Matching and Mirroring’, Chi Kung for young and old to help build positivity and resilience and ‘Write Sparks’ an active, fun garden workshop for children 9+ to inspire writing.

An exhibition of local and national dyslexia resources and products will run throughout the day with professional advice and expert knowledge on hand.  Refreshments will be available to keep everyone happy.
