The Dulwich Players present Grimm Tales for Young and Old

The Dulwich Players present Grimm Tales for Young and Old by Philip Pullman, which has been adapted for the stage by Philip Wilson. With original music by Paul Grimwood & lyrics by Gill Daly, the play will be performed in the gardens of Bell House, 27 College Road, Dulwich, SE21 7BG. Before Roald Dahl there were the Brothers Grimm!  And now there is an opportunity to rediscover the magic and wonder of the original Grimm Tales, retold by the master storyteller Philip Pullman. The audience will be taken on both a fictional and actual journal, meeting along the way some familiar characters such as  Rapunzel, and some surprising ones too,  such as Hans-My-Hedgehog,  Faithful Johannes and the remarkable Thousandfurs, each  tale being  full of delicious and unexpectedly dark twists and turns. The Dulwich Players present The House of Bernarda Alba

The Dulwich Players is a leading amateur theatre group based in Dulwich, South East London.  From 18th – 21st February they will be performing The House of Bernarda Alba – a new translation by Jane Jones from the original play by Federico García Lorca. Set in a village in southern Spain in the early 20th century, this play was unusual for its time in having an all-female cast. The men are not seen but are constantly alluded to, and the influence of one in particular on this repressed household is eventually catastrophic. Obsessed with respectability and honour, Bernarda rules her house with a rod of iron. Her second husband has just died and in line with family tradition she declares an eight-year period of mourning, effectively incarcerating her daughters. Feelings run high when it is discovered not only that the eldest daughter from Bernarda’s first marriage has inherited a large amount of money, but that she is now set to marry the most eligible man in the village, Pepe el Romano, who has transferred his affections from …

Goldilocks and the Three Endings

Sixteenfeet Productions present GOLDILOCKS AND THE THREE ENDINGS – A new play by Andrew S. Walsh Music by Guy Holden Goldilocks and the Three Endings takes place in a world where magic has thrown the fairy tale world into disorder. Characters have swapped, transformed or hopped between stories, giving well-known and established fairy tales a whole new meaning. Step-parents behave nicely, bears steal porridge and princesses rescue princes from ravening trolls? Puncturing stereotypes, challenging archetypes and having a lot of fun along the way – Goldilocks and the Three Endings will introduce audiences to the tales of Everwasland and ask them to choose how the stories should really end.
