The football action just keeps coming. With Dulwich Hamlet Women’s title triumph still fresh in the memory, and the men’s Euros in full swing, it’s already time to turn our attention to the next campaign at DHFC. Pre-season friendlies in the warm summer months bring waves of anticipation, and July sees plenty of chances to get right back in the pink ‘n’ blue.

The men’s team have six friendly outings throughout the month. First up it’s a trip to St Paul’s Sports Ground in Rotherhithe to face Fisher FC on Saturday 6th. Then we host Crystal Palace Under 21sat Champion Hill on Tuesday 9th – always a treat as we pit our wits against the young stars of our Premier League neighbours. We host Dagenham & Redbridge of the National League on Saturday 13th, then travel to Dorking Wanderers on Saturday 20th.

Hornchurch visit Champion Hill on Tuesday 23rd and we complete the month on the road at Haringey Borough on Tuesday 30th. Midweek evening fixtures are always atmospheric and during pre-season particularly enjoyable, with the chance to spend barmy evenings on the terraces checking in with friends and checking out new signings, new kits and new hope. Men’s matches kick off at3pm on Saturdays and 7.45 on midweek evenings.

For our Champions, the triumphant women’s first team – hopefully just about recovered from the magical Promotion Roundabout celebrations – preparation for life in the National League, Division One begins on Sunday 14th with a trip to AFC Wimbledon. This will be a great test as Wimbledon have just won the league Dulwich are going into.

On Tuesday 16th the Women travel to Gander Green Lane to face Sutton United, before two home games back at Champion Hill: against Whyteleafe on Sunday 21st and London City Lionesses Under 21s on Wednesday 31st. Head to dulwichhamletfc.co.uk or keep an eye on social media for additional friendlies as they’re announced.

Meanwhile the close season remains a busy time at the club, with a brand new pitch being laid and the Euros action on offer in the bar. Champion Hill hosted the South East London CAMRA Beer Festival over a cracking weekend at the end of May. Then in June the club and Supporters’ Trust were delighted to feature at the London Pride parade, the highlight of Pride Month.

The 2024/25 season proper gets under way in early August and season tickets are on sale now. Don’t forget that teenagers ‘pay their age’ for a season ticket, while children 12 and under always go free.  So gather all things pink ‘n’ blue and we’ll see you at The Hill for all the pre-season summer fun.  Up the Hamlet!
