THESE FACES/THIS PLACE is part of fine art photographer Olivier Tafforin’s larger project FACES AND PLACES and features photographic portraits and scenes shot in SE22.

As an artist obsessed with the sublime, the beautiful and the visually poetic, Olivier (who was a painter for over 15 years) has been shooting a particularly broad array of images both in France (where he was born) and in England (where he has lived for over 20 years). When he started exploring East Dulwich he was impressed by its creative vibe, diversity and sense of community.

From a shot of a discarded foam mattress all the way to portraits of business owners and residents, his photographs take us on an atmospheric and textural journey paying homage to this iconic area of South East London.

Olivier is a photographer currently based in London. He developed an obsession for the mediumat an early age before moving into fine art painting. He worked for many years in fashion and art publishing before going back to photography full time. He likes to direct every aspect of his shoots – set dressing, styling and make-up – but more importantly he is in charge of all the post editing and retouching for every single photograph. His time as a painter along with his fascination for cinema often informs the aesthetics of his images. His work has been exhibited in numerous UK venues over the years.
