In the July issue of SE22, local resident and business owner Tarik Francis had the last word.  See what he had to say:

How long have you lived in the area?

I am a newbie to East Dulwich.  I was lucky enough to take over High Vibe Fitness Studio which has been keeping people healthy for 10 years, but I am a South Londoner born and breed.

What brought you here?

When I was looking for a place to call home East Dulwich was one of few places that ticked all the boxes; with the right business, strong community and a huge amount of diversity.  I am very happy to have made that decision.

What has changed most during that time?

During these unpresented times it has been great to see what I thought was a strong community become even stronger with all local business and people pulling together. With great acts of unselfishness from heroes such as one of our High Vibe Tribe members Victoria #saveeastdulwich.

The most famous person you’ve seen or met?

We have a few famous people who come and use High Vibe but we don’t kiss and tell. We’re like Las Vegas in that sense. 😉

Do you belong to any groups?

High Vibe Tribe! My awesome community which we’re working on growing.  I am really looking forward to our summer BBQ or Christmas social.

Describe your perfect weekend

Grabbing a coffee at Lane 8, a quick 30 minute session at High Vibe, then off to grab brunch at Poached.  All finished by relaxing time at HB Therapy, our neighbour.

What is your favourite place to eat?

Yama Momo on Lordship Lane is not so much of a hidden gem but still a gem.   More often you can find me eating Caribbean food at Rice & Peas.

Coffee or tea? Where?

As much I would love to say I wake up meditate and sip mint tea. It’s usually lots of energy with early training session and ALL THE COFFEE @Lane 8 on Melbourne Grove.

What’s your favourite place to go for a drink?

The Cherry Tree is great for a drink. Fire places, comfortable seating – what more could you ask for?

Where’s your favourite place to walk?

Dulwich Park is great and I always seem to discover new parts every time I go for a stroll.

When I want to relax…

Relaxing, rest and recovery is just as important in health as a hard workout. So you can always find me at HB Therapy to get one of the best massages in South London.

The book I’m reading at the moment..

Tools of Titans, by Tim Ferriss, shares the tactics, routines, and habits of icons, and world-class performers. It’s more of a book you skip from section to section not so much of a start to finish gripping read but for my lifestyle atm it works well.

My secret ambition..

Wouldn’t say it much of a secret but I want to build a community of 1000s of Healthy, Happy and Strong people.

I am trying build this tribe with one special person at a time. It’s been a great journey so far.
