As the outdoor spaces, pop-up shop and café have now reopened, here is a round up of what is happening at the Dulwich Picture Gallery.

As the world’s first purpose built art gallery, Dulwich Picture Gallery was designed for the public to enjoy – and we can’t wait to welcome you back to our gardens as they burst into life this summer. Here are some highlights of what you can enjoy on your visit.

Experience great art and architecture

A visit to Dulwich Picture Gallery’s gardens provides a great opportunity to explore art and architecture in one setting. See Peter Randall Page’s outdoor sculpture Walking the Dog (pictured in the foreground above). Carved out of granite, the design echoes the frieze on the Gallery exterior. Why not also take a moment to appreciate the intricate patterns, lines and shadows of our iconic building, designed by late-Georgian architect Sir John Soane?

Picnic in the gardens

The Gallery Café is back offering a takeaway menu of delicious food and drink which you can enjoy with friends and family at one of the picnic tables or on the grass, or to take away with you. You’re welcome to bring your own picnic, but if you can, buying from the café is a great way to support the Gallery during these challenging times.

Treat yourself to an arty gift

Whether you’re looking for some creative inspiration from our brilliant range of art books, including the British Surrealism catalogue, stunning artwork prints from our leading exhibitions, or vibrant accessories to brighten up your home or wardrobe, our shop range is packed with goodies waiting for you to discover. Play ‘I Spy’

A telephone box…a statue…a clock tower…There are plenty of fascinating objects and landmarks to be seen around our gardens if you take a closer look. Why not bring the family and see what you can find!

Explore the local area

We are lucky to be nestled in a very green corner of South London. Why not explore other open spaces before or after your visit? Dulwich and Belair Parks are right next door and a walk through nearby Dulwich Woods shouldn’t be missed!
