It’s been a perfect start to the season for Gavin Rose and his squad with three wins out of three, sadly this winning start ended with a one – nil away defeat to Hemel Hempstead in mid-August.  However, heading into September, the team sits in the top half of the table and with the squad Gavin has assembled this year supporters should be already thinking about the posibilty of team challenging for promotion at the end of this season.

After arranging a four pre-season home fixtures against hgher league oppostition, Dulwich Hamlet’s Women’s team is ready for the challenge of the season ahead and having come so close to promotion last season, they hope to go one better this year.  The team has have already made a big impact on the local community, averaging crowds of 200+ for each of these games, with their home games on Sunday set to become a firm fixture in the diary for many supporters’ and local families.

During the summer the Football Club put in a joint planning application for Champion Hill.  The past two years have shown that it is essential that Dulwich Hamlet has a permanent home in the heart of East Dulwich, not only to ensure its immediate survival but to secure the long term future of an invaluable, 126-year-old, community asset.  The application, if approved, will allow the Club’s and Trust’s community-focused activities to expand, and will greatly increase the availability of new, state of the art, facilities to local schools and community groups.

The Supporters’ Trust has been encouraging all of it’s members, all supporters of Dulwich Hamlet FC, and friends in the wider football community to write to Southwark Council in support of the proposal.  It’s vital that the decision makers at Southwark understand how much the football club means to the East Dulwich community and what the impact would be if it was forced to close.

At the time of writing, the deadline to submit comments for the Club joint application for the re-development of Champion Hill was due to clode on 27 August, however this is likely to be extended and the Supporters’ Trust are encouraging fans and the local community to write to Southwark Council in support of the application.  Information can be found on Southwark’s website by searching for planning reference: 19/AP/1867.
