Celebrating Local Artists, Designers and Makers and Breaking Down Barriers for Emerging Artists
– Artists include Mr Cenz, globally recognised professional graffiti artist
– New Initiative to support Emerging Artists
– ‘Crystal Brew’ – supporting month-long group exhibition at Gipsy Hill Taproom

The Crystal Palace Artists’ Open House (CPAOH) has announced its fourth year, celebrating eclectic and diverse talented artists, designers and makers living in SE19 and beyond.

The event will run over two weekends – 28-29 September and 5-6 October – and showcase 50+ artists, designers and makers for visitors to explore, buy and commission work.

Artists include globally recognised and professional graffiti artist Mr Cenz, London Gallery represented and Women in Art Finalist 2023, Janette Ralph and Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year contestant 2023, and winner of the Lady Hamlyn Award at the Chelsea Art Society Summer Exhibition, Jonny Kemp.

A spokesperson for CPAOH said: “We are delighted to celebrate the fourth year of the Artists’ Open House and what a year it is going to be. Not only will we be celebrating local recognised artists but we are also pleased to introduce a new initiative to support emerging artists.

“Since its inception in 2019, the Artists’ Open House has become a cherished annual event that brings together artists and art enthusiasts. This year, the team is excited to continue this tradition and work with the local community and business owners to make it more impactful.”

New this year is the Emerging Artist Initiative for those actively studying (either formally or self-led) for a career in the creative arts. Each selected artist will have their application fee, materials and framing sponsored, and a host venue will provide space to show their work. In addition, they will receive an hour’s mentoring delivered by a professional artist and be granted access to exhibition space in 2025, at The West Norwood Picturehouse.

The Artists’ Open House is organised by a volunteer team of local artists, businesses and residents who are passionate about Crystal Palace. The team is committed to playing a meaningful role by raising awareness of the talent and supporting those who may experience barriers to exhibiting at the early stages in their career.

To coincide with the Artists’ Open House, a month-long group exhibition ‘Crystal Brew’ – will be held at the Gipsy Hill Taproom. The Emerging Artists exhibition will be on show at The Paxton Centre.

This year’s sponsors include iMove Property, Words and Pictures Ltd, Lion Picture Framing Supplies Ltd and Ninety Degrees Framing.
