I’m Tania Brown, a local and international yoga teacher and mum of two teenage boys. I run community yoga classes in SE21 and SE5 which are open to EVERYONE!  No ego, no competition, no matter what your fitness level, age, status or body shape. Classes are affordable, but can be free if you need them to be.

How long have you lived in the area?

5 years

What brought you here?

Schools! We lived in Peckham for 10 years and we were not in the catchment for our local community school. We chose to move to get into The Charter School instead of home-schooling!

What do you most value about the area/street you live in?

Our community and neighbours. We really look out for each other’s kids and homes.  I feel I can really rely on them. We enjoy a glass of wine often and can always get a cup of sugar if needed!

What’s the one thing you couldn’t do without?

Yoga!

The most famous person you’ve seen or met?

George Clooney

Describe your perfect weekend

Being in Nature, BIG Walk, great food and wine with my family and close friends. Finishing with a wild disco in the kitchen!

What is your favourite place to eat?

Moxons or Franklins

Coffee or tea? Where?

Coffee at Romeo and Jones in The Village – what a beautiful heart to Dulwich! They always remember your order and love the dogs a little more than the humans! Perks and White in Herne Hill station are also sensational – managing to never let you miss a train and delivering gourmet coffee with a massive smile.

Cafe, pub or bar?

Cafe.  Nothing beats a decent coffee in a gorgeous comfy cafe.

What’s your favourite place to go for a drink?

First Aid Box on Dulwich Road. Delicious cocktails with super kind and friendly staff that want you to have a great night! Feel like a community and always nice to walk home!

Where’s your favourite place to walk?

Sydenham Woods with my dog Ziggy or Brockwell Park at dusk.

When I want to relax…

I practice Yoga, have a bubble bath and then a massage! I’m an expert at relaxing!

What is your favourite shop?

& Other Stories is a good one for me, accessible and innovative.

What was the last thing you bought there?

A mohair jumper and some body coconut oil for a Christmas gift

The book I’m reading at the moment

Becoming Michelle Obama

My perfect holiday…

I love holidays! I love being active and swimming in the sea – perhaps Mauritius as I am half Mauritian and it is a little slice of paradise that feels like home.

My secret ambition

To climb Everest
