How long have you lived in the area?

14 years

What brought you here?

I fell in love with Goose Green when I came to check out the area.

What has changed most during that time?

The shops, bars and cafes have all been updated and now we even have a cinema!

What’s the one thing you couldn’t do without?

The thing I can’t do without (apart from my phone of course) is tea! There’s just something so comforting about a cup of English breakfast tea.

Do you know your neighbours?

I know the people in my building but sadly not the rest of my neighbours. I thought it was a London thing but a friend in Balham and her neighbours have a Google group and regularly have parties! Maybe it’s time I took charge of our street coming together?

The most famous person you’ve seen or met?

Ewan McGregor – I was assisting a stylist on a photo shoot for a magazine – he kissed me on the cheek! And yes… I have washed since 😉

Do you belong to any groups?

I belong to the East Dulwich WI and I attend CWS which have both been great for getting to know local people. I also go to 1st London Toastmasters which is a public speaking group in the City.

Describe your perfect weekend

I’d kick my weekend off with ‘Dancefit’ on Saturday morning at Push Studios – it’s doesn’t feel like exercise as it’s such fun! Have a yummy brunch at the Blue Mountain cafe, amble around Peckham Rye park with a friend, followed by a trip to see a film at the East Dulwich Picturehouse. Then on Sunday I’d go walking with my dad and his rambling group in Sussex.

The best meal I’ve ever had…

The best meal I’ve ever had was at a restaurant on a beach on the island of Ishchia in Italy where I was on holiday with friends. I ate aubergine parmigiana and it tasted of the Italy I’d first encountered and loved as a 17 year old au pair in Salerno.

What’s your favourite place to go for a drink?

I love the American bar at Brasserie Zedel in Piccadilly.

What is your favourite shop?

My favourite shop is KJ Laundry in Marylebone Lane – I bought my favourite ever dress there, thanks to the shop assistant suggesting I try it. I wouldn’t have looked twice at it but I love it and always get compliments when I wear it! Reverse personal shopping!

For clients, Liberty and Fenwicks have great menswear departments.

The book I’m reading at the moment…

The book I’m reading at the moment is called Born Survivors – it’s about 3 women who managed to conceal their pregnancies whilst at Auschwitz and give birth during the 2nd World War. I went to see one of those children speak at the Jewish museum earlier in the year. It’s an unbelievable tale of survival.
