Come Dine With Me is Coming to Dulwich!

The Channel 4 hit show Come Dine With Me is back for a new daytime series and is looking for Dulwich residents to take part. Over four days, four strangers, from all walks of life, take turns to host the perfect dinner party for each other. At the end of the week the best host wins a £1,000 cash prize!  They are looking for people over 18 years of age with a passion for cooking who want to demonstrate their skills. Callers from a BT landline will be charged a set up fee of 14p per call plus 10p per minute. Calls from other networks may be higher and from mobiles will cost considerably more.

Sydenham High alumna Bianca Miller runner-up in Apprentice final

After twelve grueling weeks and having defeated 20 other candidates, Sydenham High alumna Bianca Miller has been pipped at the post to this year’s Apprentice title in a close fought final. The 25-year old went head to head with Australian salesman Mark Wright, launching their respective business plans with slick presentations to Lord Sugar, his trusted advisors Nick Hewer and Karen Brady and a room full of business experts. In the final boardroom meeting, Lord Sugar was clearly torn between the two candidates.  However when it came down to the final decision, whilst recognising the potential commercial strength of Bianca’s idea for a range of skin-tone hosiery, ‘the devil inside’ drew him to take a gamble and plump for Mark’s digital marketing business. Afterwards, during the You’re Hired programme, Bianca’s professional, forthright and mature style as well as her integrity during the process drew much praise.  Karen Brady said of Bianca: “It was a privilege to watch you.  You’re an incredible businesswoman…and I think you’ll go a very long way.” When asked if she had …

East Dulwich WI take part in hit Sky 1 TV Show, Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew

Finally, the cat’s out of the bag!  It has been absolute torture for us to keep this a secret for so long, but we can FINALLY reveal that last summer, East Dulwich WI members Tina Hampson, Fiona Nott, Pam Martin, Anna Gryce, Sarah Pylas and SE Magazine’s very own Angela Burgess, took part in the hit SKY 1 TV show, Ashley Banjo’s Secret Street Crew. If you are not familiar with the show, each episode follows a group of non-dancers as they secretly attempt to learn a street dance routine choreographed by 2009 Britain’s Got Talent winner Ashley Banjo and his street dance troupe Diversity. After 3-weeks of intense rehearsals with Ashley and WIversity group mentors, Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely, the ladies then performed their routine to an unsuspecting group of friends, family and fellow WI members at a charity cake bake competition.
