Salon announces Levan, a new restaurant in Peckham

This October, following the success of Salon, Nicholas Balfe and his team, Mark Gurney and Matt Bushnell, are heading to Peckham to open their second restaurant, Levan. Inspired by the new wave of bistronomy that began in the quartiers of Paris and has spread through the neighbourhoods of Copenhagen and Barcelona, Levan will be open all day, with a focus on contemporary European dishes, and low-intervention and natural wines. Housed in a converted warehouse block with large wooden sash windows allowing natural light to stream in throughout the day, Levan will be split into two parts. One side is dedicated to the bar, with diners able to perch at high tables and window ledges, and tables kept aside for walk-in guests. The other part of the space will be home to the dining room, with low mahogany-topped tables and mid-century modernist chairs. Last Herne Hill business closed by Thames Water flood in August 2013 set to re-open

Number 22 Restaurant 22 Half Moon Lane, Herne Hill, London SE24 9HU is set to re-open its doors on October 17th 2014, over 14 months after the devastating flood of August 2013, caused by a burst Thames Water main. After a long struggle with insurance agencies, owner Chris Adnitt has finally been able to set an opening date for this South London favourite. The opening date for the restaurant has been set as October 17th, with a soft opening period starting on October 8th. Number 22 will continue to serve modern tapas dishes in a newly designed space as well as introducing newly developed lunch and breakfast menus as well as a weekly Mediterranean inspired Sunday roast. Locals will be pleased to see the return of Number 22’s famous paellas.
