Forest Hill Fashion Week: 24-27 September 2015

Forest Hill Fashion Week is back! And this year with a theme of ‘Creativity, Community and Culture’ – three things that definitely make Forest Hill such a vibrant and unique part of London. There are several themed events planned for the week to involve the whole community, as well as  the main catwalk fashion show in a marquee in central Forest Hill featuring local and up and coming designers. The catwalk event will close with a very special show from ‘Pavement to Catwalk’, an inspiring organisation dedicated to involving people with mental health problems, addiction issues and disabilities in creative projects using fashion and design. Join Dulwich Picture Gallery for a weekend of outdoor cinema, vintage fashion, late opening tours, talks and debates at their very first ‘Men of Mystery’ themed MayFest on 15-16th May.  Did you know that Eric Ravilious was said to be inspired by the films of Alfred Hitchcock? Forest Hill Fashion Week

Featuring established & up-and-coming designers, the fashion week is organised by a group of volunteers with local shops, cafés, bars, other venues and community interest groups all joining forces to host an exciting line-up of fashion-themed events – illustrating Forest Hill’s community spirit, creativity, love of sharing and commitment to high street regeneration. Founded in 2013 by South East London local Louise Brooks, this bi-annual event builds on the momentum created by the SEE3 Portas Pilot investment to regenerate local high streets in the area. Previous FHFW events have seen live catwalks and a local craft market at the Horniman Museum & Gardens. To keep things fresh, they are organising a wider range of events giving innovative designers more opportunities to present their work locally. This season features designers showcasing their work in local shops, workshops & exhibitions, catwalk shows, markets, family events and “FOHO Fash Jams” hosted by Forest Hill’s pubs & cafés, ending with a grand finale closing concert staged by the Forest Hill Society in the station car park.
