Open Art Exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery draws record number of entrants

The last time, in 2011, Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery staged an open art exhibition it attracted 183 artists, this year 234 artists submitted 573 work of art, ”and of a very high quality,” according to the judging panel led by Ian Dejardin, the Sackler Director of Dulwich Picture Gallery. He was assisted on the panel by the award winning painter Clive Head, the sculptor Nicky Hirst and the artist and art professor Rebecca Fortnum. The local artist Elo Allik-Schunemann was also on the panel.

They selected 170 paintings, “ we could have picked many more, but we did not have enough wall space in the Gallery,” said the panel.

The Open Art Exhibition at Dulwich Picture Gallery will be open during the Gallery’s normal opening hours and all the works of art are for sale with prices starting at £50.

Open Art Exhibition organised by Friends of Dulwich Picture Gallery from 30 September – 12 October.
