A new community garden is coming to West Dulwich this autumn! A group of local residents are turning a neglected strip of land into a beautiful pocket garden for all to enjoy!

The patch of land, on the corner of Tritton Road and Vale Street, used to attract dog foul and litter; an unpleasant sight for residents and children who pass the plot on their way to the local school just next door. Local residents decided to turn things around and won a Mayor of London Capital Clean Up grant to help fund their idea. They have spent the last few months perfecting a garden design with inputs from the community and gathering the support of many local businesses who are contributing everything from design expertise to trees, seeds, planters and even locally-made beer to quench the thirst of busy gardeners on the planting weekends! The design encourages use by all, including children’s activities such as stepping-stones, willow tunnel and climbing log, as well as relaxation spaces for older people.

All are very welcome to join in the planting weekends in September which are set to be fun for all the family, including face-painting and games for children, as well as plenty of gardening for green-fingered enthusiasts.

Planting weekends will be 10th & 11th and 17th & 18th September. For more information please visit www.facebook.com/trittonroad or email trittongarden@gmail.com.
