West Dulwich has been brightened up by the addition of sixty three eye-catching lamp-post banners celebrating the spirit of the area.

There are 20 different banners selected as part of a competition launched earlier in the year, the winning designs were chosen by nine jurors selected from various areas of the community including the wonderful Ingrid Beazley of Dulwich Outdoor Gallery who sadly passed away last month.

Part of the Dulwich Festival, the competition attracted entries from artists and designers of all ages and experience, with a connection to West Dulwich – they might live, study or work there, have family or friends in the area, or simply love the place for another reason. The brief asked entrants to think creatively about what West Dulwich meant to them.

The competition was run by Love West Dulwich, in partnership with the Dulwich Festival and set out to create community inspired banners to identify the area geographically for residents, local businesses and visitors and help provide a clear, cohesive sense of visual identity to reflect the spirit of its local community and culture.

The Love West Dulwich Lamp-post Banner project has been funded by a grant from the London Borough of Southwark’s High Street Challenge and contributions from local businesses.
