Brockley Max, one of the cultural highlights of South East London, returns for its 18th year from 31st May – 8th June, filling the Brockley, Crofton Park, Honor Oak and Ladywell areas with art and music for everyone.

The Festival has been growing in size since it started in 2001 and features films, concerts, art installations, theatre, activities for children and much more taking over venues across the borough. With many of the events being free to attend this is a great opportunity to experience the talent of the area and further afield.

The festival starts with a bang with the Opening Night Concert at Brockley Station. Starting at 4.30pm there will be a mixture of acts performing covering various musical styles.

Over the next 9 days you can find various events taking place such as:

  • Brockleywood Nights a Showcase for local filmmaking talent taking place at The Rivoli Ballroom
  • Acoustic Anarchy – an acoustic folk, punk, and alternative night at waterintobeer
  • And Then There Were None – a murder mystery play set in an island mansion house at St George’s Church
  • Roald Dahl’s The Twits – local theatre company Join The Dots perform this children’s classic at John Steiner Community School
  • Hidden Corners – Short stories night on a specific theme at The Talbot
  • One Harmony Radio – Broadcasting live for three days of the festival from the Fox & Firkin Beer Garden

For the full line up of events please visit www.brockleymax.co.uk – events are being added every week so make sure you check back regularly.

Wrapping up the Festival is the annual Art In The Park that takes place on Hilly Fields. Starting at Midday there will be food and drinks options, an Art market, the Felix School of Rock Stage and a Children’s Magical Marquee to name but a few.

“Brockley is such a diverse area. It was important our festival programme reflected that. We are offering a huge variety of events this year so we’re confident there’s something to suit all tastes. Whether you want to watch comedy, learn harmonica or take in a theatrical show.” – Moira Tait, Festival Director
