Saturday 3 August: parkrun
Saturday mornings at 9am. The parkrun is a free weekly timed 5k run, which is open to all standards of runners; it is not a race.
Peckham Rye start is near the Colyton Road entrance of Peckham Rye park and run three laps of the gardens www.parkrun.org.uk/peckhamrye

Tuesday 6 August: Honor Oak Women’s Institute (not august)
7.30pm. We meet on the first Tuesday of each month at the Cafe in Stanstead Lodge,260 Stanstead Rd, SE23 1DD (access via Northwood Rd) at 7:30pm (NB There is no meeting during August!). Our meetings involve a talk or activity, plus plenty of time for socialising. The bar will be open and there is usually cake Guests are very welcome to join our meetings. We meet every Wednesday from 10:30 until 12:00 at St. John’s Church by Goose Green. Come and meet others over tea, coffee and cake. Find us at 62a East Dulwich Road SE22 9AT. On the 2nd Wednesday of each month there will also be a short talk given by an interesting speaker.

7.15pm (for 7.30pm). Edward Alleyn Clubhouse, 83-85 Burbage Road, SE24 9HD We have various groups that run between 4 and 10 miles on different routes each week. There are groups for a variety of paces to suit all levels of ability from beginners, those looking to build on the parkrun bug to experienced racers.  Guests are very welcome and encouraged to try us out with a small £1 fee for all runners each Wednesday they run. The Club House has shower and changing facilities, off road parking and a bar offering hot and cold drinks for post run socialising. Friday 9 August: Salsa comes to The Portico Gallery
El Swing hits the dancefloor with a monthly night of the very best in Salsa – from the hottest new salsa dura to the deepest, classic Fania – and all the amazing stuff in between. The DJs: Johnny Gee, Dave Hucker, Carey Lyseight and Gerry Lyseight have hosted some of London’s most legendary club nights: Sol Y Sombra, Salsa Fusión, Latin Swing at Wessex House, Mambo Inn, Villa Stefano, as well as lighting up Notting Hill Carnival with the Latin Rave Sound System. The all-comers salsa dance class kicks off at 7.30 – led by the wonderful Yamile – before the club night gets into gear at 8.30 for 100% Lean Latin through until midnight. 7.30-8.30pm Mixed Salsa Dance Class led by Yamile. 8.30-12am – Club.  £10 – Salsa Class + Club. £7 – Dance class only. £5 – Club only. The Portico Gallery, 23a, Knights Hill, SE27 0HS. www.porticogallery.org.ukEl Swing begins on May 10 and then on the second Friday of the month thereafter.

Sunday 11 August 2019: Central Peckham Walk
2pm. Led by Peter Frost. Meet at Peckham Rye Station SE15 4RX. Duration 2 hours. Embraces what was the “Golden Mile” of the 1930s with its five department stores and art deco architecture. You are introduced to the unexpected which has made Peckham a favourite destination for the discerning visitor. www.peckhamsociety.org.uk


Sunday 11 August: SINGAROUND at The Ivy House
Another popular Singaround hosted by The Goose Is Out! All are welcome, whether to sing or to listen. It’s an informal and supportive atmosphere, so don’t worry if it’s your first time! 11.30am. Babble Talks are daytime TED-style talks for parents, not about parenting. For parents and carers with babies under 1 year old. Have you ever wondered how movies first flickered into life?
