Well, hello there November! As we wash our hands clean of Halloween face paints for another year and finish the last batch of pumpkin soup, fireworks begin to light up our skies ready for Bonfire night.
The Lambeth Fireworks at Brockwell Park (3 November) promises not one, but two dazzling fireworks displays! There will also be street food traders and a family fun fair to add to the excitement.
Dulwich Sports Club invites you to their family firework display (3 November) and a new and improved layout will mean more food and beverage stalls than ever before!
Southwark Council is delivering its fifteenth pyrotechnic extravaganza in Southwark Park to mark Fireworks Night this year (5 November). The display is free to residents and one of few fireworks events in the capital to fall on the very night Guy Fawkes was discovered guarding explosives beneath parliament.
Our high street also begins to sparkle, as festive cheer takes over from mid-November.
At the St. Barnabus Christmas Bazaar (17 November) there’s an opportunity to start your Christmas shopping early with over 30 local designers and artists selling a variety of goods ranging from jewellery, ceramics, glassware and preserves.
The Love West Dulwich Christmas Fair (24 November) is celebrating its fifth year and will take place throughout West Dulwich on Park Hall Road, Croxted Road and Rosendale Road in SE21. On the day, there will be festive activities for the whole family including a Santa’s Grotto at Wigwam Toy Shop, children’s story time at Dulwich Books, and a treasure hunt.
SoLo Craft Fair is holding a Christmas Craft market in the heart of Dulwich Village (24 November) at St. Barnabus Parish Hall. Over 50 independent traders will be selling the best in handmade crafts and there will also be a bar selling Christmas tipples.
The Charter School North Dulwich will be holding its annual Christmas Fair (29 November) where local artists and designers will be selling their work including gorgeous vintage jewellery, handmade scarves and accessories, home-made jams and jellies, plants, and limited edition prints.
The Handmade Collective London is a group of South London artists, designers and makers, celebrating and promoting art and creativity in our local area. They are holding pop-up shopping events in the run-up to Christmas at The Ivy House pub (17 November), 10 Walters Way, SE23 (24-25 November) and fiftyseven, North Cross Road (1 December).
Other highlights this month include Tea and Time, a newly launched club at Christ Church, Barry Road, aimed at anyone over the age of 60 who would like to meet other folks in the local area (Mondays at 10.30am).
Following their sell-out UK tour, the Scummy Mummies will be performing their new show at the Catford Broadway Theatre (9 November) complete with new songs, new sketches and new catsuits! Tickets here.
Link Age Southwark is hosting a 25th birthday gala dinner with Jo Brand at Dulwich College (15 November). Tickets are limited, but it should be a glorious evening of fine dining and entertainment including a raffle, auction and some wonderful musical performances.
The festivities continue next month with The Dulwich Charity Lunch (6 December) at The Palmerston. As always, they are looking to raise a bumper amount for Link Age Southwark to support their work in helping older people maintain active lives in the community.
