It’s April and as this is traditionally a time for spring-cleaning, I booked myself in for a root tidy up at Jo Partridge’s on North Cross Road because let’s face it, I can clean behind my fridge anytime… and one day I really, really will!
Perhaps Becca Teers can help motivate me to take up more positive habits at the launch party for her new book ‘Unlimited’. Becca is a trained life coach and she is hosting a book launch upstairs at the East Dulwich Tavern on 27th April where you can purchase a signed copy of her book, have a glass of Prosecco and listen to live music from singer-songwriter, Kitty Montague. We wish Becca every success with her new venture.
The great and the good of East Dulwich got together at The Palmerston last month to celebrate a not-so-new venture – 12 years of SE22 magazine – WOW! Sadly, I had a diary clash with The Husband and in the absence of an available babysitter, I wasn’t able to attend this year. However, I did meet up with Angela for a coffee at Blue Mountain the following morning and she was surprisingly very fresh faced!
We were joined by Anna Gryce, who is not only the President of the East Dulwich WI, but is also the House of Colour Personal Stylist & Colour Consultant for our area. Anna invited us both to a pop-up shopping event at The Palmerston on 7th April and you can come too! There will be a chance to view, try and buy the colourful new shoe collection from Noë. We had a sneak preview and I already have my eye on a pair of fuchsia ankle boots. You certainly won’t miss me on the school run!
With Easter school holidays now upon us, there’s plenty to do locally with kids (although perhaps not in hot pink ankle boots). The Horniman Museum is running some fantastic children’s events over Easter, including The Robot Zoo, a Mini-Beast Safari and Pond Dipping. These activities are incredibly popular so do book to avoid disappointment.
I am also hoping to get along to the KNOTS exhibition at Lewisham Art House later this month to support two of my lovely school mum friends – Liz Workman (photographer) and Shiree Allen (artist). Working in print, photography, sculpture and works on paper, four artists have responded to the theme of knots.
Next month, the Dulwich Festival will return for two weeks from 12 – 21 May. There is a rich and varied events programme this year and over 200 artists will be throwing open their doors to you during the Artists Open House weekends.
I will be at the Dulwich Festival Fair (14 May) and the Dulwich Park Fair (21 May) with my food stall, Vasso’s Kouzina. We’ll be selling homemade Greek dips, spanakopita, baklava and kalamata olives. Do pop by and say hello if you are there.
