Acclaimed novelist, Louise Candlish will read from her newly released psychological thriller, ‘Our House’, take part in a Q&A and sign copies of the book at Herne Hill’s Park’s Edge Bar & Kitchen.

Kicking off a brief series of bookish events at the modern British eatery on the edge of Brockwell Park, the reading on Wednesday 13th June, 7.45pm, the event will be Louise’s first appearance on home turf to talk about her new bestseller.

While Our House is set in a suburban landscape that appears to be not dissimilar from the leafy enclaves of Dulwich, Herne Hill, West Norwood and others, the author is herself a resident of Herne Hill, sandwiched between Brixton, West Norwood and Dulwich.

Released in April, Our House is internationally tipped to be one of this year’s crime best-sellers and is described by Laura Wilson, book reviewer of The Guardian as a “masterfully plotted, compulsive page-turner’ and by Clare Mackintosh as ‘Addictive, twisty and oh so terrifyingly possible…’

The evening will be hosted by 30-year veteran Herne Hill resident, Patrick Roberts, who will probe Louise on the inspirations behind her unique characters, the places and events that the book depict.

Park’s Edge Bar & Kitchen has joined up with much-loved local bookseller, Herne Hill Books, to provide copies of Louise’s book for purchase and signing on the evening. Copies of ‘Our House’ and Louise’s previous book, ‘Swimming Pool’ can also be purchased from Herne Hill Books in advance of the reading.

Speaking on the upcoming event, Louise said: “I can’t wait to chat to fellow South Londoners about Our House. It’s an honour to take part in the first literary event at Park’s Edge.”

Full event tickets including red or white wine and light plates prepared by Park’s Edge chefs are available at £29 from DesignMyNight.com (doors open from 6pm). Tickets for the 7.45pm reading are £9.50 – spaces for the exclusive event are extremely limited so fans of Our House are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
